Don't drink and drive.
This is a golden rule that must be followed for two reasons :
1. Safety
2. You will be caught by police
Well wise people follow this rule for the first reason. And every person need to follow this rule for the second.
But seriously, it is dangerous. A person, drunk and driving is prone to accident harming himself and risking other's life. But what should a person do in case he/she is drunk?
May be he should use the public transport. But what if he/ she is not allowed to use?
Well this is the case coming up with metro. Well metro has a rule of "no drunken travelling". And now, it is getting stricter by imposing checks at metro entries. D M R C is now going to get breath analyzers to check if any one is drunk at the entry itself and any person drunk would not be allowed to board the metro.
Well some might thing it a good thing. Drunk people are considered mischievous. But the other facet of coin must also be considered.
The rule if imposed properly may create much more problems in Delhi.
Now consider one thing. Suppose some one is going to a party. They enjoy and party hard. Now the person is drunk and needs to return home. He/she must not drive in such case. In this situation if the person cant board metro how is he/ she is supposed to travel?
Before imposing such rules, alternatives must be there. After all now in Delhi, travelling means metro. Denial to boarding metro is just like denial to a basic right!
Now in the same situation, if the person is a girl. She goes to a party and now she is drunk and need to return home. If she is not allowed boarding metro how on earth is she expected to travel home safe? We already know how safe our buses are after all.
So, the core is that from point of view of convenience and safety, this is rather a harsh rule and missed to consider so many factors. All the people who drink are not always mischief maker. They have equal right to travel and be safe.
